School board nominating petitions due April 17, 2017



DUE APRIL 17, 2017


     Residents of the Akron Central School District interested in serving on the Board of Education must file their nomination petition by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017.  Petitions for the three-year terms must be submitted to Roxanne Rebmann, District Clerk, in the District Office of the Akron Central School District.  The signatures of 25 qualified voters are required on the petition.  Petition forms may be obtained from Roxanne Rebmann, District Clerk, at the District Office Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  A public drawing for ballot position will be held at the District Office, 47 Bloomingdale Avenue.  Candidates are invited, but not required to attend.


     The terms of present Board of Education members Jody Brege, James Grant, and Diane Snyder will expire on June 30, 2017.

     As per Education Law, candidates must be literate, at least 18 years old, a citizen of the United States and a resident of the Akron Central School District for at least thirty (30) days preceding the election.


     Voting on the above three seats and the 2017-2018 school district budget will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 between Noon and 9:00 p.m.
