Procedure for Visitors to Akron Schools
All visitors to the school during instructional hours (8:05AM to 2:35PM) must report to and register at the main office of the building at which they are attending a function or meeting with school personnel. Visitors will press the intercom button at the main entrance of the Elementary, Middle or High School buildings, at which point the office staff can remotely unlock the door. Handicapped visitors should use the entrance at the performance gymnasium (GYM 1) where handicap parking spaces are available, then report to the appropriate office. Visitors unknown to staff may be asked for picture ID. A visitor badge will be issued; badges should be worn at all times while in the school or on school grounds and returned to the office upon departure. Visitors attending school functions that are open to the public, such as a “Homegrown Assembly”, are not required to register, but should enter at the front center entrance near the auditorium. Any unauthorized person on school property will be reported to the principal or designee. Unauthorized persons will be asked to leave. All visitors are expected to abide by the rules of public conduct on school property as contained in the Code of Conduct.
